In India, access to quality learning resources remains uneven, particularly for students from low-income backgrounds. Many aspiring learners struggle with limited availability of books, unaffordable educational materials, and a lack of inclusive public spaces that support focused study and self-improvement. For these individuals, opportunities for academic and personal growth are often restricted by financial and infrastructural barriers.
To address this gap, Coforge, a global digital services and solutions company, has launched its second Coforge Public Library in Gurugram. This initiative is part of the company’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program and is designed to provide free, open access to knowledge for everyone.
The library especially supports underprivileged yet determined students by giving them a space to learn, read, and thrive.
Located on the ground floor of the Bestech Business Center in Badshahpur, Sector 48, Gurugram, the newly inaugurated Coforge Public Library spans 15,000 square feet. The entire space has been designed with inclusivity, accessibility, and reader comfort in mind. With a seating capacity for 160 people, it offers a calm and inspiring environment suitable for dedicated study, casual reading, or community engagement.
Large windows throughout the space bring in abundant natural light and offer scenic views of the surrounding greenery. The interiors are modern and thoughtfully arranged to create a peaceful atmosphere that encourages learning and reflection. Wide aisles ensure easy navigation for wheelchair users, making the library accessible to everyone regardless of physical ability.
A dedicated children's zone within the library invites early readers to explore books in a setting that is playful, colorful, and age-appropriate. This space is carefully designed to spark curiosity among young learners and build a lifelong love for reading from an early age.
The strength of the Coforge Public Library lies in its impressive and diverse collection of books. With more than 16,000 titles available, the library caters to a broad range of reading interests and academic needs. It includes 2,000 Hindi books, supporting regional language access and ensuring that language is never a barrier to learning.
The genres span across fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, poetry, self-help, business, spirituality, art, technology, photography, and more. This well-rounded selection provides something for every reader, whether they are preparing for competitive exams, seeking personal development resources, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon with a good story.
The collection features works from over 13,000 unique authors and includes titles from more than 350 leading publishers. These include globally recognized names such as Penguin, HarperCollins, Amar Chitra Katha, Oxford University Press, and Sahitya Akademi. Such diversity in authorship and publication ensures that the library offers not only academic value but also cultural richness and literary excellence.
By curating content that reflects both global trends and local narratives, Coforge has created a space that honors India’s linguistic and literary diversity while opening doors to international knowledge.
The Coforge Public Library is built with the future in mind. Fully digitized for cataloging and operations, the library uses an efficient management system that allows visitors to easily browse, locate, and check out books. This system minimizes the friction that sometimes comes with navigating large public libraries and creates a smooth and organized user experience.
To complement its physical collection, the library offers over 1,000 digital titles accessible through iPads available within the facility. This digital access is especially beneficial for tech-savvy users and students who are comfortable engaging with digital platforms. It also expands the reach of the library’s offerings by providing content that may not be available in print.
The combination of physical books and digital tools ensures that the library meets the needs of all types of readers. Whether someone prefers the tactile feel of a printed book or the convenience of an e-reader, the Coforge Public Library provides options that suit different preferences and learning styles.
By integrating technology into its core structure, the library sets a standard for modern public reading spaces. It is not only a repository of knowledge but also a space that reflects the evolving nature of learning in a digitally connected world.
The Coforge Public Library in Gurugram has already begun to make a significant difference in the community. It offers a safe and welcoming space for students, working professionals, children, and senior citizens to immerse themselves in reading and personal development.
The availability of high-quality educational resources at no cost levels the playing field for individuals who might not have the financial means to buy books or attend private study centers.
For underprivileged students in particular, this library is more than a resource center. It is a sanctuary that supports their aspirations. From textbooks and exam preparation guides to motivational literature and career development materials, the library empowers them to pursue their goals with greater clarity and confidence.
Beyond individual impact, the library fosters a culture of community learning. It brings together people of different ages and backgrounds who share a love for knowledge. Parents can read with their children, seniors can reconnect with books they loved in their youth, and aspiring professionals can study in an environment that is both peaceful and motivating.
The Gurugram library builds upon the success of the first Coforge Public Library, which opened in Noida in February 2024. These libraries are forming a growing network of community learning spaces that reflect Coforge’s vision for long-term social transformation through education.
With the launch of its second public library, Coforge has taken another significant step toward its larger vision of building a nationwide network of free public libraries. These libraries are intended to become inclusive centers for learning where knowledge is accessible to all, regardless of social or economic background.
In the coming years, Coforge aims to expand this initiative to more cities and towns across India. Future plans may include organizing author interactions, hosting community reading sessions, introducing book donation drives, and launching digital lending platforms to make content accessible beyond the library walls.
There is also potential to integrate more regional language literature and offer thematic reading programs aligned with academic calendars, national events, or cultural festivals. By continually evolving and responding to the needs of the community, each new library will become a stronger force for inclusive growth and empowerment.
Coforge’s library initiative goes beyond corporate philanthropy. It is a sustainable investment in India’s human capital, helping build a society where learning is not a privilege but a right available to all. The libraries stand as proof that when communities are given the tools to learn and grow, they can shape their own futures and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.
