Public Health Priorities for India Inclusive Healthcare and Nutrition Programs

CSRBOX has been hosting the annual India CSR Summit for the past 7 years. The Summit has been the largest CSR and social impact event in the South Asia region with participation of 1800 organisations and 2400+ delegates every year.

At the 8th India CSR Summit 2021 (7th-9th Dec 2021), we hosted panel discussion on 'Public Health Priorities for India: Inclusive Healthcare and Nutrition Programs', with following speakers:

  • Moderator: Mr. Himanshu Sikka, Chief Strategy and Diversification Officer, Practice Lead – Health, Nutrition and WASH, IPE Global
  • Mr. Kiran D M, CEO, ONGC Foundation
  • Ms. Mamta Carroll, Vice President & Regional Director, Asia, Smile Train
  • Ms. Aman Pannu, Head-Corporate Communications & CSR, DCM Shriram Ltd.
  • Mr. Joydeep Sen, Head CSR (One Health), Vedanta Limited
  •

During this insightful discussion, the speakers shared their learnings, thoughts and experiences around the following points:

  • The suspension of mid day meals for the time being during covid19 is already indicating a rise in malnutrition and stunting in children. How can the CSR Fraternity build a safety net to ensure basic nutrition reaches children through community based interventions.
  • What are the non-profit/community experiences from the ground and how do we incorporate community need-based interventions
  • COVID19 poses a fundamental healthcare challenge in India. How can CSR be a catalyst to provide affordable healthcare models that can be scaled up from pilot to public?
  • How do we look at collaboration as a key and strengthen the existing government schemes like POSHAN Abhiyan, Anaemia Mukh Bharat, Aaayushman Bharat, etc, to undertake localised CSR community initiatives that solve problems/challenges step by step?
  • The Agenda 2030 emphasises on ‘Leaving no one behind’. Where are we in achieving the indicators of SDG 2 and 3? Do our programs reflect the spirit of inclusivity and equity?
