In conversation with Mr Jithin C Nedumala, CEO and Founder, Make A Difference
Jithin Nedumala is the Founder and CEO of Make a Difference (MAD), an award-winning nonprofit that delivers equitable outcomes for children in need of care and protection. He founded MAD at the age of 19 with a vision to enable vulnerable children to break out of the vicious cycle of poverty in a single generation.
A self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit, Jithin found purpose in life at a young age while interacting with a few disadvantaged children at an orphanage who were facing immense challenges to progress in life due to lack of access to quality education. Jithin set up MAD with an initial goal to teach English to children by inspiring his friends to join the mission and mobilizing volunteer networks later on. To ensure equitable outcomes for children, Jithin eventually transformed the initiative into a comprehensive mentorship program. In that process, he developed a technology- driven scalable voluntary-based model to mobilize young leaders and designed four core programmes to empower them to break the cycle of poverty through acquiring life skills and employable skills.
Jithin was awarded the Ashoka fellowship for developing a Community-Powered Social Protection System. His other awards and achievements include Ashoka Global Youth Social Entrepreneur Award, Karmaveer Puraskar, Cordes Fellowship, and Youth Actionnet Fellowship.
