The company contributed to CSR towards COVID-19 - Mission Covid Suraksha. Under its project, Mission COVID Suraksha (Protection from COVID), Reliance provided over 81 lakh masks and safety advisory material to communities. Reliance provided more than 5.5 lakh litres of free fuel to over 14,000 emergency vehicles across 249 districts in 18 states to deliver uninterrupted COVID-19 services. The Jio Health Hub, a telemedicine portal developed by Reliance Jio, allowed patients to connect with healthcare professionals, overcoming the limitations of social distancing during COVID-19.

HZL aimed ensuring its community’s health security while also supporting the Children, Youth, Farmers & Women of its communities across 189 villages in 6 districts of Rajasthan & Pantangar. Some of the actions taken under the COVID-19 initiatives are: –

1) Ensured Food Security at the Grassroots: Sakhi Self-help groups & Samadhan Farmers have become enablers for providing basic resources for their community. With huge number of daily wage earners losing their livelihoods and food supply getting disrupted in some areas, SHGs & Samadhan farmers have collectively set up grain banks, pooling in grains from their households & fields. Over 14,000 Kg grains have been collected thus far.

2) Ensured Health Security: 30 lacs cloth masks & few Full body suits has been stitched by Sakhi SHG women. INR 8+ lacs income has been generated for 130+ SHG members.

With the mission to serve and cater to the needs of the patients and to provide best in the world medical education to the rural interiors of Gujarat, Zydus Foundation has set up the Zydus Medical College and Hospital at Dahod. In the new hospital building, 5 modular OTs are ready and equipment and instruments of OTs and ICUs are being procured. It also offers separate hospital residential quarters. The dialysis centre will be started soon and all the equipment and instruments have been procured and installation work is underway. In association with the Wishing Factory NGO IRCTC, a Thalassemia Centre at ZMCH have been set up and the number of beds for Sickle Cell and Haemophilia have been increased. In the relentless battle against the Coronavirus, the Zydus Hospital, Dahod increased the number of beds at the quarantine facility to 306 of which 100 are ICU beds and 206 are oxygen beds. It was started as a 100-bed quarantine facility in 2020.

The campaign reached over 600 million people across India, including small towns and rural areas through television and digital platforms. India Protectors Alliance: The Company established the India Protectors Alliance (IPA) as a founding member in association with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and RBL Bank. IPA is a corporate-led alliance established to protect frontline workers including doctors, nurses, sanitation workers who have been the protectors of society amidst the pandemic. The Company contributed to the CSR by contributing towards Health & Sanitation Program. The company continues to adopt a multi-pronged approach towards improving public health and hygiene. To promote a hygienic environment through prevention of open defecation and reduce incidence of water-borne diseases, 640 Individual Household Toilets (IHHTs) were constructed in 28 districts of 15 states in collaboration with the respective State Governments/District sanitation departments taking the total to 38,153 IHHTs constructed so far in your Company’s catchment areas. In addition, 23 community toilets were constructed/renovated in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu in the year, taking the cumulative to 104 community toilets. Along with sanitation infrastructure development, special focus was given to awareness campaigns to create demand and drive behavioural change.

Torrent Group’s flagship CSR programme of the Group REACH – Reach EAchCHild was initiated with three major pillars: (a) SHAISHAV (b) JATAN and (c) MUSKAN.

a) SHAISHAV – GRASSROOT INTERVENTIONS: Medical camps were conducted and children identified with malnourishment were provided with therapeutic food, free of cost. To overcome the challenges of the children not consuming food due to monotony of taste, alternate diet biscuits called Mauji were introduced through in-house research, keeping the same energy and protein constituents. These biscuits also have longer shelf life and sustaining nutritional values. b) JATAN – GREENFIELD ACTIONS: It's a day care paediatric centres were established at locations; providing free specialist consultation, basic laboratory services and branded medicines to the underprivileged. These centres are closer to the beneficiaries especially in remote areas having inadequate healthcare facilities. c) MUSKAN: To help in developing increased confidence as well as self-esteem among adolescent girls, we have conducted mass awareness programmes on health and hygiene in 125 camp villages, covering more than 5,000 adolescent girls. Free sanitary pads were provided on a monthly basis along with health and hygiene related information and counselling to gradually eradicate psychological and social taboos.

At their various locations, the company operate six hospitals with a combined capacity of 370 beds. In FY21, 2,12,000 patients underwent various treatments at their medical facilities. 1,00,088 Children immunised against various diseases. 1,912 Patients treated under homeopathy camps. 1,122 Patients screened under nine multi-specialty camps conducted. 1,450 People reached through HIV awareness. 23,305 Patients screened under nine multi-specialty camps conducted. 1,429 Women and girl children reached through health and hygiene awareness. 980 Patients screened under nine multi-specialty camps conducted. Plus, 292 Dermatology patients were treated. 

Apart from their operations under healthcare facilities, their CSR has helped establish 1,490 Individual toilets. 265/298 Villages are open defecation free (ODF), with the rest on the ODF journey promoting health, sanitation and hygiene.
