DDMM Heart Institute and APAR Introduce Minimal Access Cardiac Surgery in Nadiad

The Dharmsinh Desai Memorial Methodist Heart Institute (DDMM) proudly announced the launch of its Minimal Access Cardiac Surgery program on Saturday, November 29, 2025, a breakthrough aimed at transforming cardiac care for all socioeconomic groups, especially the underprivileged. APAR contributed Rs. 2.20 crore to the project, bringing life‑saving cardiac innovation to DDMM and the wider community.

Backed by APAR’s CSR initiative, the institute reflects the visionary spirit of the Desai family and their long-standing commitment to making advanced cardiac treatment accessible and affordable. The initiative draws deeply from the family’s personal history: Mr. Dharmsinh Desai, Founder of APAR, passed away from a heart attack, and Dr. Narendra Desai himself underwent two bypass surgeries before eventually passing away due to a heart attack. Rather than letting these experiences be in vain, the family chose to transform grief into purpose. Inspired by the world-class care Dr. Narendra Desai received at the Cleveland Clinic, he was determined that people in his hometown should have access to the same level of treatment and expertise.

Program Highlights and Benefits

·        Minimal Access Cardiac Surgery, often called "keyhole" surgery, offers significant advantages over traditional open-heart procedures.

·        These include smaller incisions, reduced pain, faster recovery, shorter hospital stays, lower infection risks, and a quicker return to daily life and work.

·        This program leverages state-of-the-art German-made surgical instruments and Siemens AI-enabled imaging systems to ensure precision and safety, combined with advanced equipment like automated ELISA analysers and ventilator assist devices to enable diagnosis, surgery, and postoperative care.

Why this Matters

In today's fast-paced world, cardiac ailments threaten livelihoods across professions — from CEOs to daily-wage workers. Each hospital day means lost income for families, disrupting stability. This program delivers minimal access cardiac surgery that shortens stays and accelerates recovery, tackling vital social-economic challenges.

Mission Statement
DDMM Heart Institute’s mission, empowered by APAR CSR’s generous support, is "Making world-class cardiac care accessible and affordable, ensuring a healthier tomorrow for all." The new Minimal Access Cardiac Surgery program is a major step toward realising that mission by bringing life-saving interventions to those who need them most.

Future Outlook
The institute plans to expand patient access by organising outreach camps and support groups in partnership with NGOs. Continuous upgrades in technology and ongoing education for healthcare professionals will further enhance care quality and patient outcomes.
