This would be the sixth Boot Camp of the series, with the previous ones getting a wide appreciation from the development professionals fraternity.

Time - 3.30 - 6.00 PM

There is No Fee for this Boot Camp

The Context:

Agriculture has been highly affected by climate change because of its dependency on local climate parameters like rainfall, temperature, soil health etc. Impact of climate change on agriculture will be one of the major deciding factors influencing the future food security of mankind on the earth. To alleviate the challenges posed by climate change, agriculture has to become “climate smart”.

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is an approach that helps to guide actions needed to transform and reorient agricultural systems to effectively support development and ensure food security in a changing climate. Odisha is an Agrarian State. Almost 70% of its population is dependent on agriculture. The agriculture sector contributes about 16 percent of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Odisha has led India in taking initiatives for combating challenges brought in by climate change, especially in the Agriculture sector. In 2020-21, Odisha became the first Indian State to introduce a Climate Budget.

Also, it is the first State in the country to have got the clearance for Project with Green Climate Fund (GCF) Financing. Government and NGOs in Odisha have taken many initiatives to promote Climate Smart Agriculture practices. In order to widely disseminate these practices, it becomes essential for the stakeholders active in this space to gauge a 360 degree view about the entities and the modalities involved.
