Akshay is an award winning social entrepreneur and science teacher. Avanti works with government school systems to effectively integrate the use of technology, peer collaboration and self-directed learning to improve college access and Math and Science learning outcomes. Today, Avanti works with over 50,000 students in government school classrooms across India and helps over 1M learners every day through its online learning resources.

For his work at Avanti, he was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship, Draper Richards Kaplan Fellowship and Echoing Green Fellowship. Before Avanti, Akshay served on the founding team of Heartflow, a venture-backed medical diagnostics company that raised over $100M from top venture funds. He also has prior work experience with the Boston Consulting Group, the World Food Programme and the International Save the Children Alliance.

Akshay graduated from IIT Bombay in 2006 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and is on a leave of absence from the MBA program at the Harvard Business School.

In the interview with Deepak Nanda from CSRBOX he shares his views on the following:

1. From when it was established to now 10 years later, with students from across the country being a part of it, how would you say the Avanti Fellows has developed?

2. How have partnerships played a crucial role in this journey of expansion?

3. Apart from empowering students, what is it that you are doing differently for the teachers to remain relevant and up-to-date with the latest pedagogies and curriculum?

4. Talking of curriculum and content, what has gone behind the scene into developing it? So much so that your students' success rate speaks volumes for the same.

5. For many students, the learning ends when they move out of the school. How do you make sure the students are continuously engaged in learning even when they are not at school and now more than ever when they cannot even go to school?

6. Lastly, how do you intend to grow the program as a disruptive avenue for students from across the country or even globally?
