Rahul Bakare serves as the Founder and CEO of Urdhvam Environmental Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a groundbreaking, groundwater, sustainability startup, headquartered in Pune. Mr. Bakare's academic journey includes the attainment of an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University, complemented by an Executive Program in Business Management from IIM Calcutta. His professional trajectory spans 18 years in the Software and IT sectors, both in the United States and India. However, Mr. Bakare chose to redirect his career towards social development, collaborating with luminaries like Nandan and Rohini Nilekani. He undertook the role of Director of Grants at Arghyam Foundation, where he pioneered India's inaugural Participatory Groundwater Management Network. Since 2014, Mr. Bakare has been an entrepreneur dedicated to leveraging IT, IoT, Robotics, and Technology as enablers for creating innovative, cost-effective, and scalable solutions aimed at revitalizing India's rapidly depleting groundwater resources. In India, a staggering 80% of the population relies on groundwater to meet diverse needs, marked by the presence of 4.5 Crore borewells, and an annual addition of approximately 20 Lac new borewells. The unrestrained extraction of groundwater, exacerbated by declining natural recharge rates, has resulted in the abandonment of low-yield and non-producing borewells, contributing to farmer distress, water scarcity, and unsustainable livelihoods. This situation has given rise to the emergence of Urdhvam Environmental Technologies Pvt. Ltd. by Mr. Rahul Bakare. Which offers a transformative solution known as "BoreCharger," a patented innovation in rainwater harvesting. Furthermore, the company has pioneered a cutting-edge robotic tool capable of performing "Angiography" of borewells.
