Bhumi’s Transformational education programme is a hands-on activity-based approach to STEAM catering to the learning needs of under-privileged children (grades 1 – 12) from shelter homes delivered by trained volunteers during weekends. The programme aims to bridge the lack of foundational literacy/numeracy/STEAM skills by minimizing rote learning and encouraging holistic development. It enhances 21st century skills such as critical, cognitive thinking, digital literacy etc. that advocates and equips the underserved children to thrive in today’s world.

Proposed Project Description

36% of the total population of India are illiterate. 26% of Indian population do not know how to read and write. Only 44% grade 1 children know English alphabets. 70% children drop out of school on/before Grade 10. Bhumi’s Transformational education programme is a hands-on activity-based approach to STEAM catering to the learning needs of under-privileged children (grades 1-12) from shelter homes delivered by trained volunteers during weekends. The programme aims to bridge the lack of foundational literacy/numeracy/STEAM skills by minimizing rote learning and encouraging holistic development. It enhances 21st century skills such as critical, cognitive thinking, digital literacy etc. that advocates and equips the underserved children to thrive in today’s world.

 Objectives: 

  • To equip with the fundamentals of literacy and numeracy skills of children from low-income, vulnerable communities
  • Create a platform for to discover and explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM)
  • To instill children with skills, prudence and self-improvement
  • To cultivate the path to finding opportunities and talent; cultivating curiosity, creativity and confidence through talent development programme/events

  • Increase in not just academic proficiency but also the knowledge of wisdom and virtue 
  • Increase in opportunities for a wider beneficiary target across a vast geographical coverage
