Project Synopsis

Industree through the principles of lean manufacturing, product design intervention, and a professional management team has supported women in the bamboo value chain to produce quality value-added products that have fetched them a premium price in the market. The project proposes to work with 200 newly mobilized women from marginalized communities and create economic opportunities for the rural and tribal women in the Southern part of Karnataka by establishing professionally handheld producer-owned bamboo natural fiber-based enterprises supplying to national and global buyers.

Proposed Project Description

Goal: Establish a Business Excellence Center for 800 women micro-entrepreneurs in Bamboo Value Chain in Karnataka

A BEC would technically serve as a 100% compliant center most suitable to attract international and large domestic buyers. Additionally, the project will collectivize 200 women producers into a collectively owned producer enterprise, taking the overall women producers in Karnataka to 800 women producers.

The Export compliant centre, serves as the key functioning center connecting the entirety of the value chain to national and global markets. Usually there is one Export compliant centre per value chain per region. It will technically serve as a 100% compliant center most suitable to attract international and large domestic buyers. The unit will facilitate product R&D within the bamboo value chain for product diversification, product value addition, final finishing, quality testing, sample development, product showcasing, warehousing and serve as a center for training master producers.
