Proposed Project Description

Higher education is the backbone of the modern society. It has the power to transform human beings into human resources. Along with primary and secondary education higher education is also an instrument to build future generation. But the rural population cannot get access to higher educational institutions due to various reasons. Acknowledging the difficulties and hindrances faced by the poor and poverty-stricken rural youth of our country, Rehab India Foundation always gives exclusive emphasis for the education.

Rehab India Foundation’s BSW/MSW programme is a participatory approach of development by selecting the students from villages where Rehab Projects exist. This scholarship & stipend programme is for the deserving students. The reason behind the selection of students from the villages is to build social workers for leadership roles in developing and providing services to individuals, families, groups, communities and Village as whole.

Procedure:

Awareness Campaign: Awareness campaigns are held in the villages to make the students aware of the BSW/MSW courses available. The students are also notified about the scholarship & stipend programme provided by Rehab India Foundation. Applications are also received from the students.

Selection Process: The applicants are selected only after a brief interview which brings out their interest for the course and interest to serve the community. A written examination is also followed by the interview.

Admission Process: The selected students are guided to enrol themselves for BSW/MSW courses offered in IGNOU School of Social Work.

Special Features of the Project:

Accommodation: Normally it is observed in India, higher education institutions are mostly located in cities, main towns etc. where it is not possible for all the youth to stay away from their families as they may be the only bread earner of their families. Apart from this poor communication & transportation system of the rural areas also hinders equal access of higher education. To overcome this problem, Rehab India Foundation ensures safe and secure accommodation to the students.

Training: The students experience one-week training procedure every month at Rehab Head Office located at Abul Fazal Enclave, New Delhi. Apart from this, they also experience other trainings such as Personality development, Self-Development, Career development, etc. Quarterly training sessions are also organized by Rehab India Foundation, inviting the Phd scholars to enlighten the students.

Stipend: To overcome the financial crisis faced by the students, Rehab also offer stipends to help students cover expenses that typically occur during the course of their internship.

Accreditation & Career: The best student is also accredited with “Best Performer” certificate. Career guidance are given to the students after course completion. The students are also offered placement in Rehab India Foundation. Through career guidance we also equip the students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to make informed decisions and successful transition and hence to manage their career pathways.

In India majority of the higher educational institutions are urban centric. Even most of the higher educational institutions in rural India lack quality. As a result of that rural population are deprived. Now, when a large number of families and their youth are struggling hard to fulfill their basic needs, they naturally have to compromise with the higher education. With our Scholarship and Stipend Programme, Rehab India Foundation ensures that the deprived rural youth gets equal opportunity to build their dreams.
