Proposed Project Title

Free Special Education to Rural and Underprivileged Special Students

Thematic Area

Promotion of education, special education and vocational skills

Sub Thematic Area

Special Education

Project Synopsis

We sought to persuade the parents of special children in the rural areas in and around our special school to send their children there. These youngsters require special education. We also counseled them that sending their children to the special school would improve their daily chorus. Despite their general agreement, the strength of the school did not increase. Afterward, we learned that their parents were daily wage workers and that sending their children to school would negatively impact their ability to earn their livelihood. This ignited our desire to offer these disadvantaged kids free special education. We derive smiles in the homes of special children.

Proposed Project Description

On a door-to-door survey taken by our school teachers showed that there are still so many special children living in and around Rajapalayam. Many of them have Cerebral Palsy (CP) a non-progressive neurological physical disability, Intellectually Challenged and multiple disabilities. Many of these children have never been to a school and are usually left alone in the house without any day-care.

Our motive is to teach them how to improve their daily living skills, such as using the bathroom, getting dressed and eating on their own; communication skills, such as understanding what is said and being able to answer; social skills with peers, family members, adults, and others. And where possible educate them for an independent, productive life.

Our school has strength of 86 special students out of which 68 students are Below Poverty Line Students (BPL). We like to provide free education to these students as their parents are daily wage earners, approx Rs.200-300 per day. In our 19 years of running the school we happened to see school drop-outs mainly because of monetary problems. This made us think of giving free education and transportation to this underprivileged 68 students.

The existing financial position of the trust is not sufficient to achieve our motive of  providing Free education and Free transportation.  To extend this service to the needy special children We are looking kind hearted philanthropists to assist us financially.

Salient Features

  1. More rural and underprivileged children will get benefited by this program.
  2. We reach them with the intention to give Independent and productive life.
  3. We explore and identify their in build talents like sports, drawing, dancing, yoga, singing etc... and we exhibit their talents to the society.
