Project Synopsis

Cervical Cancer is one of the leading Women’s Cancer in India. The mortality is relatively higher in our country due to the substantial delay in detection and diagnosis of cancers in our country. Cervical Cancer demands prolonged multidisciplinary team management with long term follow up. The urgent need in cancer control today is to develop effective and affordable approaches to the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cervical cancer for women.

Proposed Project Description

•         Cervical cancer treatment involves surgery in early stages and Chemo-Radiation in later stages. 
•         Surgery involves either removal of affected cervix or removal of uterus, tubes and ovaries with.
•         Radiotherapy may be required after surgery to take care of residual/lymph node disease and prevent a recurrence.
•         Some women will need chemo-radiation, as part of management.
•         Penn Nalam aims to provide a one-stop centre for all of the above, free of cost. 
•         We plan to identify women with cancer, who are not able to afford the treatment and offer them free treatment which includes Surgery, chemotherapy at our centre, and radiation at a referral centre, necessary investigations and other maintenance medicines.

About Sri Dhanvantri Trust

Penn Nalam - A unit of Sri Dhanvantri Trust is a nonprofit organization with goals set to maximize cancer awareness programs with simultaneous cancer screening programs for women from various walks of life. The services include cancer awareness programs, cancer-screening camps, cancer chemotherapy, diagnostics such as PAP smear, HPV DNA tests, Ultrasound, Colposcopy with biopsy and Surgery along with supportive therapies such as yoga and health counseling.
We offer comprehensive treatment along with low-priced diagnosis to cancer-affected women belonging to middle and lower strata of society especially cancer chemotherapy for breast & gynaecological cancers. Concentration shall be on women who cannot afford corporate hospitals.
