Project Description

Vedanta Limited being a socially responsible organization, implements various development activities that helps in improving living standard of rural villagers living around its periphery of Jharsuguda. Rural Health is one of its integral thematic area of its services. Rural Medicare facility around Jharsuguda is in poor state. There are persons who are too vulnerable and old to visit private hospital for treatment and are too poor to afford it.

Understanding the criticality of poor rural health care facility, Vedanta, as part of its CSR initiatives, started "Mobile Health Unit (MHU)" in 2008 to bring medical facilities at the doorsteps of rural poor. Later, this initiative was implemented in partnership with Wockhardt Foundation in the year 2015.

Currently this programme functioning in 14 peripheral villages and 2 special school, providing access to population of around ~18K with an average beneficiaries of 35 - 40/day/village. In FY 18, around 17496 people (9182 female patients) have been benefited through 689 MHU camps, towards preventive health care through Mobile Health Unit.
