Project Description

Schoolnet has effectively delivered K-Yan as Integrated teaching device in digital classroom solution, rooted in evidence of impact, informed practice and tailored approaches to what works, where, and for whom. Integrated Teaching Device is a portable and easy to use Educational Technology Tool, developed in 2004 by Schoolnet India Limited in collaboration with IIT, Bombay. As an Interactive Teaching Learning Platform, it incorporates the utility of a Fully Functional Computer, High Luminosity Projection System, Large Screen Television, DVD Player, In- Built Audio System and an Internet Browser, all integrated into a Single Compact Unit. Integrated Teaching Device (K YAN) is also equipped with an in-built interactive device, which does away with the need of a separate Interactive Board. It helps teachers to make real time changes on the projected image, truly defining a “Portable Interactive board.” K-Yan is a holistic solution towards providing an interactive learning environment in the school. The solution has been designed on a teacher centric approach. All components of the platform, be it technology, or content, has been devised to facilitate the teacher to make the entire learning experience magical in the classroom. SCHOOLNET Education has established more than 17,000 Computer Labs in primary, secondary and higher secondary schools for the Government of Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. More than 36000 schools covered and 12 million students impacted with presence in 478 districts.

  • Computing Device- The high storage capacity enables multimedia content to be loaded on to the Hard disk, enabling easy access. Integrated Teaching Device also has a builtin CD writing facility, which can be used to share resources created locally; sharing of lessons plans among instructors.
  • Web Conferencing- Using optional features like the web camera and microphones, it can be used as a collaborative learning tool with interaction across institutions without geographical limitations.
