Sickle cell anemia is a genetic disorder that has debilitating consequences for the individual and society. As this condition is largely prevalent among the tribal population, mitigation and management have been challenging public health issues that are 100% preventable. With an estimated 10 Cr scheduled tribal population and potentially much larger carrier population, our novel diagnostic solution can detect disease and trait samples at 1/5th the cost of currently imported solutions and cut down results time from 2 days to 20 minutes. A one-day camp has been conducted in collaboration with JSS Medical College in a village in the Mysuru district for screening of school children for sickle cell. We are seeking support for larger screening programs in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, and Jharkhand. Our operating partners include not-for-profit organizations including JSS, VGKK, IPH & HLF.
