ActionAid India is an anti-poverty agency that has been working with poor people to end poverty and injustice in India since 1972. ActionAid India is part of a global federation and a full affiliate of ActionAid International that has a presence in over 45 countries worldwide. Since 1972, the poor and the excluded have been at the centre of our discourse and actions in India. In 2006, we got registered as an Indian organization called ActionAid Association. We are governed by an independent General Assembly and a Governing Board.

The ActionAid Association has been working to ensure that the poorest and marginalized have access to their Constitutional rights which is right to food and livelihood, shelter, education, healthcare, dignity and a voice in decisions. We partner with several voluntary organizations, institutions, government ministries and its various commissions at the state and central levels to achieve this. ActionAid Association is working in 25 states and 2 union territory with more than 250 partners and allied organizations.

Our Values are that in our effort to deepen our commitment to transforming our organizational culture we stress on ‘praxis’ in our work. Solidarity, camaraderie and sisterhood with the poor, the powerless and excluded women, girls, boys and men are at the core of our struggle against poverty and injustice.

Throughout the country, ActionAid India works with local and community-based organizations that have essential knowledge and experience and enjoy the confidence of the poor and marginalized communities we work with. ActionAid India supports 83 long-term projects including network partners (working closely with particular communities for between one and ten years) and 420 short-term projects (up to one year).
