CEE develops innovative programmes and educational material, and builds capacity in the field of education and communication for sustainable development. It undertakes demonstration projects in education, communication and development that endorse attitudes, strategies and technologies that are environmentally sustainable.

Vision of CEE is to be an institution of excellence that plays a key role in local, national and global efforts towards sustainable development through innovations; be at the cutting edge of the fields of environmental education and education for sustainable development.

CEE’s Mission is to enhance the understanding of sustainable development in formal, non-formal. Informal education through its work with schools, higher educational institutions, and policy makers. Integrate education as a key driver for change to demonstrate and advance sustainable practices in rural-urban communities, business and the public sector, meeting global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity conservation, positive handprint actions that are environmentally sound, economically viable, and socially beneficial.

CEE reaches out countrywide to urban and rural populations to spread awareness of environmental conservation among children, young people and adults, transforming their lives not just through the formal system, but also through community engagement. Influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, CEE when began, sought to evolve new ways of engaging with the environment.
