The organization was established in the year June, 2000 and works in three districts namely Dumka, Pakur and Hazaribagh of Jharkhand State in India. It is working with the community (especially tribals and indigenous tribes) in 166 villages of 6 Blocks. The organization primarily focuses on quality education and ensuring girls’ child education with adult literacy. Formation of Community Based Organization is the key platform for addressing and empowering the community on social, governance and economic issues. Time to time capacity building programs being designed to generate awareness on issues like rights, tapping of government schemes, health, HIV and AIDS, Behavior Change Communication, Gram Sabha Management.

The organization is an active member of National and State level social networks. These networks are doing advocacy for rights and justice. It is a member of JUMAV March, State level network working for violence against women and leadership development. It is linked with Jharkhand Anti Trafficking Network, Sukhar Virodih Abhiyan, a State level network for Natural Resource Management and Disaster, Jharkhand Right to Education Forum, Jharkhand Budget Group and Right to Food Campaign.

• The organization has all its legal documents in place. It is primarily working among tribal and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (Santhal and Pahariya).  
• It is well experienced in implementing the projects in the sector of Watershed and Agriculture, Women Empowerment, Empowerment of Adolescent and Children and Mother and Child Health Care.
• It has a strong participation of stakeholders such as beneficiaries', community organization, service providers (Panchayat Members), Government Department and like minded NGOs and civil societies. 
• The organization firmly follows child rights policies in all its programs. 
• The organization work is visible in the form of beneficiaries' self testimony  and transformation in living a better life. 
• Jharkhand Vikas Parishad is different from other organizations in terms of its accountability, transparency and visibility in implementation, monitoring and sustainability of the program. It is continuously working on new ideas and approaches  to implement the program in all sectors.

The organization has been registered in the month of June 2000. Since its inception, the organization has been working for the rural poor with special reference to women and children. In the due course of action, the organization is intervening for the development of women and child through formation and promotion of women’s groups, non-formal education, health & hygiene camps, environment camps, integration & promotion of traditional festivals, village meetings, capacity building training, organizing advocacy workshop on women’s issues and promotion of livelihood activities to ensure Food Security.
