Nagai Narayanji Memorial Foundation (NNMF) is a nonprofit organization committed to provide medical care and rehabilitation services to children with disabilities. It is registered as a Society in year 2014 under Society Registration Act 1860 and Mumbai Public Trust Act 1950 in Maharashtra, India. Its head office is located at Nagpur, Maharashtra state, India. Organization is working with the disabled children from its inception in year 2006. In order to identify the children with disabilities, foundation organizes screening camps at regular intervals in remote areas and urban centers located in Central India. In its decade long journey of working with the children with disabilities, foundation has screened around 16000 children for disability and performed free of cost corrective surgeries of more than 3200 children. Greater than 6000 children have benefited from comprehensive therapy support services and around 3000 children have benefited from orthotic support provided by the organization. Children benefited through the activities of organization were mainly from low-income families across Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and some parts of MP, Chhattisgarh and Orissa.

Nagai Narayanji Memorial Foundation owes its success to the young and dynamic leadership of its founder President Dr. Viraj Shingade a Paediatric Orthopedic Surgeon by Profession and a driving force behind work of the foundation. Nagai Narayanji Memorial Foundation (NNMF) is engaged in spreading awareness about the disability and related issues from its inception in year 2006. Every screening camp organized by the Foundation starts with the awareness session where experts provide information and guide audience about the various types, extent, causes, preventive measures, treatment available and rehabilitation opportunities to the disabled children. The foundation is not limited to spreading awareness in society but it has specially focused on the medical fraternity associated with the childhood disability like Paediatricians, Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists. Foundation regularly organizes various workshops and symposia for the medical fraternity to spread awareness about disability.Foundation has organized several screening camps in the remote areas of Central India region to identify and assess the children with disabilities at their place. Through regular screening camps organized by the foundations more than 16000 children were assessed by the expert medical team. Normally 50% -70 % of the screened children require corrective surgeries. NNMF organizes surgical camps for the shortlisted children at the Children Orthopedic care Institute located at Nagpur. In order to provide the best care to the operated children, post-operative therapy for 15-30 days is provided to the operated children in a small therapy centre run by the Foundation. Residential facility is also provided to the limited children and their parents who cannot afford to stay outside. Parents are trained with home therapy program. Customized orthotic devices are needed by the children undergone corrective surgery. Foundation also run Orthotics manufacturing unit to fulfill the needs of orthotic devices to these children. Orthotic devices are provided to children from corrective surgery camps, free of cost.

Today the world population stands at 7.7 Billion and 15% of them are disabled and of these 93 million are children. In India there are 7.7 Million children with disability. Most of these children with disabilities are poor and reside in remote areas. Parents of many of these children especially from rural area are not aware about various aspects of disability like causes, treatment available and rehabilitation opportunities. Lack of infrastructure facilities and high cost of medical care have compelled many of these children to live miserable life. Nagai Narayanji Memorial Foundation is reaching such children from remote parts of central India and providing them with surgical intervention along with post surgery services like therapy and orthotic support. In its decade long journey of working with the children with disabilities, foundation has screened around 16000 children for disability and performed free of cost corrective surgeries of more than 3200 children. Greater than 2000 children have benefited from comprehensive therapy support services and around 3000 children have benefited from orthotic support provided by the organization.They believe that, children with disabilities have all the rights and capabilities to perform the task expected from a normal child, they just need more attention and some support either from the corporates or other members of the society to overcome the barriers they are facing. Children with disabilities can become independent members of the society if they get early medical intervention and favourable environment.
