About the organization


United Way Mumbai is a registered non-profit organization and is part of the 130+ year-old United Way movement engaged in nearly 1800 communities, spanning 41 countries across the world. Our mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the common good.

Vision: United Way Mumbai envisions a nation where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, financial stability and healthy lives.

We work closely with a network of 500+ NGOs and a large number of corporates for their CSR programmes, workplace giving campaigns and other events. This includes designing of CSR policy and strategies, due diligence of NGO partners, programme implementation, employee volunteering, impact assessments and financial and programmatic reporting. Over the past 18 years, we have partnered with over 300 companies and over 1,00,000+ individual donors investing close to INR 480 crore for community development projects.

Our expertise lies in identifying, designing & implementing high impact projects in the areas of Education, Health, Income, Environment, Public Safety & Social Inclusion in both urban as well as rural communities across the country. We are also the official philanthropy partner of the Tata Mumbai Marathon.

Special features of the organization

United Way Mumbai creates, implements and monitors customized CSR programmes which are aligned with a company’s values, products and expertise. Our work encompasses 3 principle components – Design, Implement & Measure.

  • Designing evidence based CSR programmes to deliver high impact community solutions. This includes conducting sector research, designing CSR polices and strategies, conducting need assessment of communities, designing innovative, impactful and scalable CSR programmes and conducting multi-level due diligence of NGOs.
  • On ground implementation and management of community development interventions. This includes programme implementation, facilitating end-to-end process of grant management, employee engagement and volunteering and payroll giving programmes.
  • Monitoring and measuring impact of community development initiatives. This includes programme monitoring and evaluation, conducting impact assessment of community development initiatives, designing and delivering efficient financial and programmatic reporting and conducting CSR programme audits.
