About the organization
The Automotive Skills Development Council is India’s first dedicated sector skills council for the Automobile industry, founded in March 2011 under Societies Registration Act 1860. It has been setup with its key objective to initiate, carry out, execute, implement, and assist activities towards skill development for the Indian Automobile Sector and meeting the entire value chain’s requirement of appropriately trained manpower in quantity and quality on a sustained and evolving basis.
ASDC is Promoted by the Automobile industry through Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) and Government of India represented by Department of Heavy Industry and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). ASDC has been granted the status of Awarding Body by National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET).

ASDC provides prospects and a platform to all young generations who wish to work in the automotive sector by skilling them through a variety of skill development programs in association with industry training partners across the country. ASDC works towards capacity building by bridging gaps and upgrading the skills of technical and non-technical workers engaged in organized/ unorganized segments of the Automotive & Allied Sectors.
ASDC is contributing to nation-building through Skill Development in Automotive, especially at the times when the country's automobile sector is experiencing growth. It has also been the exodus of quality manpower to allied sectors, changing technology with increased variability in production parameters, and transformations in international automobile markets.

ASDC is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. ASDC has 10 years’ rich experience to implement the various types of Skilling projects with Govt, State govt, Industry and international organizations with Transparency and CSR compliance. ASDC certified total ASDC is well connected with the Auto Industry as well as Training partners. ASDC has over 240 training partners, 800 certified assessors, 14 expert groups with 295 industry experts and over 2000 training centres. ASDC is working in various skill development projects such as:-
Skill Development project under CSR :As per Point No. (ii) under schedule VII of Companies Act, 2013-“Promoting education, including special education and employment enhancing vocational skills, especially among children, women, elderly, and the differently-abled and livelihood enhancement projects are covered under CSR activities.
National Policy on Skilling and provisions for CSR through Sector Skill Councils (SSCs): As per Clause 6.13 of “Governance Structure And Financing” under National Policy for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, 2015 “To attract funds from industry, companies will be encouraged to spend at least 25% of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds on skill development initiatives directly or through NSDF. Further, the industry should earmark at least 2% of its payroll bill (including for contract labor) for skill development initiatives in their respective sectors. These funds can be channelized for skill development activities either through respective SSCs or through NSDF”.
