About the organization

FIND is a global non-profit organization that drives innovation in the development and delivery of diagnostics to combat major diseases affecting the world’s poorest populations. Globally, FIND is registered in Switzerland and headquartered in Geneva, with in-country hubs in India, South Africa, Kenya and Vietnam. Since 2003, FIND has been instrumental in the development of 24 new diagnostic tools. Over 50 million FIND-supported products have been provided to 150 low- and middle-income countries since the start of 2015.

FIND India is registered as a Section 8 company since 2015 with an independent board of directors. FIND India has offices in New Delhi and five other States with a staff strength of 84 and another 410 personnel third-party employed personnel. From 2010 onwards, FIND has been a key technical and implementing partner of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for sustenance and expansion of its nationwide laboratory network for drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic services, pandemic and outbreak preparedness, viral hepatitis, anti-microbial resistance and fever-causing disease such as malaria.

FIND's activities in India, initially focused on in-country evaluation and demonstration studies for new TB diagnostic tools, such as liquid culture and drug susceptibility testing, rapid speciation, molecular line-probe assay, LED-based fluorescence microscopy, and GeneXpert® MTB/Rif assay. The data from these studies formed part of the body of evidence that ultimately enabled their endorsement by World Health Organization (WHO). The data also informed India’s Revised National TB Control Program (currently called the “National TB Elimination Program” or NTEP), policy on the introduction of these technologies at the national level and subsequent formulation of guidelines for the detection and management of drug-resistant TB with these new diagnostic technologies.

Today, FIND India’s portfolio has expanded significantly. Alongside a continued focus on TB diagnostics FIND is working on a wide variety of technical and community-level interventions across the country. Projects include expansion of the country’s TB laboratory capacity through laboratory upgrades, implementation of the largest-ever pan-India private sector engagement project in TB, as well as multi-year project HEAD-Start (Hepatitis Elimination through Access to Diagnostics) aimed at informing policy at state, national and global levels through implementation of innovative service delivery models. Additionally, collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on reducing the incidence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and several other projects  for the evaluation of new diagnostic tests across TB, hepatitis, fevers and COVID-19 as well as training and capacity building of healthcare workers have been undertaken. FIND has significant experience in large scale public health disease screening programmes, sustenance and expansion of laboratory systems, introduction of new diagnostic technologies, training of laboratory staff, implementing quality management and surveillance systems.
