About the organization

VOC RDC was started by a women social activist named Mrs. S. Latha with a view to developing the women and children, especially dalit bonded women labourers, adolescent girls and children       employed in stone metal quarries, Blue Metals, Crusher Units and Brick Kiln Units in Vadipatty and Alanganallur Blocks of Madurai District. It also works for agricultural coolies, differently abled, and the landless and migrant labourers who are socially and economically oppressed. VOC RDC is a women headed organization and among the 7 members of the Society, 5 members are women.  VOC RDC  was registered on        13-02-1996 as a Non-Governmental Organization under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act, 1975.  Mr. R.S. Ramasamy is the secretary and he is authorized to apply, implement and report developmental projects.

 Vision:

 “Towards establishing a society, where there will be Freedom, Economic equality and Social Justice, which concerns for the welfare of all disadvantaged, less privileged  and the underprivileged irrespective of caste, creed, race, religion and gender, based on truth, non-violence, and unity in diversity.

 Mission:

 Bring about social transformation with emphasis to liberation, equality and social justice;

 Enable the dalit women, child labourers, bonded labourers, quarry workers, brick-kiln workers, agricultural coolies, youth, small farmers, marginal farmers, less privileged, underprivileged, orphans, differently abled, victims of natural calamities, drug addicts, alcoholics, HIV+ves and sex workers to find right place in the society and re-establish their identity in a fitting manner through awareness, motivation and developmental activities by making them involve in the development process; and

 Empower them face challenges in order to defend, bargain, and address so as to attain self-reliance and sustainability.
