Pursuant to our vision and values, we serve humanity in areas of Education, Environment, and Wellness. In addition, HFI has several ongoing initiatives that are being run at scale across India and globally. Donations and grants that are received are utilized in funding some or all of these initiatives. In summary, these initiatives are towards:
Meditation, Mental and Emotional Wellbeing: Heartfulness Relaxation and unique heart-based Meditation techniques are proven to be effective in reducing stress, anxiety, improving sleep, and enhancing Emotional Intelligence. This has been validated via independent research conducted by third-party organizations. HFI periodically conducts ‘Dhyanotsavs’ – three-day free meditation workshops in cities across India, typically averaging 5000 people per event. HFI conducts corporate meditation programs across dozens of corporations across India and globally. We also conduct wellness programs for villages in India under HFI’s ongoing Village connect program. This program will equip village youth, women, and men with tools and techniques towards achieving moderation, inner peace, and wellness through meditation and other interventions
Education: HFI’s education-based interventions are geared for both teachers and children which has found great success in reducing suicide rates, increasing test scores, and most importantly, teaching life skills and motivating students. HELP is a sixteen-week life skills development program for senior secondary students studying primarily in government-run junior colleges from Class X to Class XII. The HELP Program is designed to equip junior college students on many dimensions of their lives and wellbeing including areas like:
Funds will be used towards sponsoring the teaching aids like developing the curriculum, books for the students of government schools and underprivileged students. It will also be used to train the teachers of government schools and colleges. Also, HFI provides scholarships for doctoral and research programs via CREST in addition to providing scholarships to deserving candidates and students. We also, through an affiliate organization, help administer the ‘Brighter Minds’ program. Brighter Minds is an educational initiative to equip every child (5-15 age group) with tools and methods to enhance cognitive functioning for achieving personal excellence and instilling confidence in oneself. These sessions are designed based on the principles of neuroplasticity for effective learning and transformation.
Environment: Forests by Heartfulness, this is our flagship greening program, we have a target to plant 30 million rare, endangered and native Indian trees by 2030. Starting recently in 2021, FBH has set up 18 nurseries across India towards this effort and efforts are in full swing. The objective is to preserve India's mega biodiversity of tree species.‘Heartfulness Green’ is HFI’s environmental initiative committed to nurturing indigenous and endangered species of plants. HFI through its ongoing ‘Each one, Teach one, to Plant one’ has planted 100,000+ saplings and trees with a survival rate of 80% which has helped to raise the water table in the surrounding area
HFI has also been successful in the translocation of trees earmarked for felling and nurtured around 1000 trees on the Kanha campus. HFI is also engaged in organic cultivation where they have developed essential oil production, using crops that require little to no pesticides. Training and workshops have been conducted with local farmers to help them implement similar practices in their communities.
Medical and Humanitarian Activities: We offer a network of community-facing basic medical facilities in a few places in India completely free-of-charge. HFI programs include the Continuing Medical Education Certification (15 CME credits – accreditation by American medical association) for healthcare professionals. Heartfulness is a partner of the American Heart Association.
