Key objectives of Sankalp
Special features of the organization
Sankalp Siksha - Sankalp Siksha is a scholarship program that promotes girl child education. Sankalp provides Rs. 10,000 scholarships to deserving girls who are at risk of dropping out due to socio-economic reasons and enables them to complete their education up to class 10. Sankalp supports orphans, children of single parents, daily wage laborers, and housemaids. Sankalp partners with low-cost private English medium schools to identify children in need. Along with fee support, Sankalp offers counseling, stationery, and books to help these girls focus on their studies. So far, Sankalp has reached over 3000 children.
Prevention of child sexual abuse: Project PANTS: Sankalp, as part of its commitment to creating safer communities for children, conducts awareness sessions for children, teachers, and parents on the prevention of child sexual abuse. The project is called Project PANTS (P-Private parts, A- Always remember your body is yours, N – No means no, T- talk to a trusted person, S – Shout and seek help). The project aims at empowering children, teachers and parents to Recognize, React and Respond to child sexual abuse. The program enhances the understanding of stakeholders on CSA, its prevalence, dynamics, impact, knowledge about potential perpetrators, and the importance of knowledge creation, reporting, and support systems in creating safe spaces for children. So far we have reached out to more than 50000 children, teachers, and parents from government and private schools. Sessions are conducted both physically and virtually. During the lockdown, we have reached out to more than 1000 teachers through virtual sessions.
Life skills education: Sankalp holds a strong belief that through the provision of life skills education to underprivileged children, we can build their confidence, resilience, and problem-solving capabilities to navigate life challenges and firmly pursue their aspirations. Sankalp equips children with life skills through classroom sessions and impactful posters aimed at shaping their behavior and thought processes. These skills will develop the psychosocial competencies of children to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life and address gender norms and attitudes before they become deeply ingrained in children and youth. Sankalp has reached out to 50000 children in Telangana.
Sankalp Jiva:
Blood donation camps are the flagship program of Sankalp. It conducts blood donation camps annually with the key purpose to support blood transfusions of children suffering from cancer and thalassemia. Sankalp partners with NGOs, education institutions and corporates and conducts blood donation camps as a gesture to give hope to these young strong cancer and thalassemia fighters. So far, in partnership with Aarohi Blood Bank and NTR Trust, we have collected more than 1000 units.
