Garden Reach Institution for Rehabilitation and Research located in Kolkata, is a social innovative platform that acts as a catalyst to positively impact marginalized communities to realize their potential through rights, protection, sports, education, and livelihood. Garden Reach Institution for Rehabilitation and Research (GRIRR) is committed to supporting the journey of children to attain self-reliant adulthood through quality education, therapeutic services, and job placement. The organization has served the community sincerely since 2014 in Garden Reach. Garden Reach Institution for Rehabilitation and Research is an institute that is trying to provide inclusive education to children with special needs.

Garden Reach Institute for Rehabilitation and Research also incubates values of an inclusive society and works with children and young adults with special needs, it is designed for that reason. GRIRR is working directly at the grassroots level with the economically and socially underprivileged, to make education accessible and relevant. Children are reached out, screened through specialized tools and mainstream support is provided through parents training, support on orientation and nobilities, school preparedness, enrollment, and pedagogical support to attain academic skills. Therefore the education opportunities imparted by GRIRR are in a formal and special learning format. GRIRR provides therapy and education for children with special needs.

VISION: Community empowerment and awareness about disabilities. Promoting Inclusive Development. Facilitating access to services related to habilitation and Rehabilitation. Capacity building of young persons with Disabilities in the field of disability. Make them independent so that they can live with dignity in society. 

GOAL: The goal of the project is to help the children to cope with daily/ personal chores and to start the process of formal education with an aim of mainstreaming in future in order to enable them to lead a normal life and to raise awareness on different disabilities with the aim of contributing to create an inclusive society.

The underprivileged children of Garden Reach are currently burdened with major issues like child labour, undernourishment, lack of shelter , education ,and hygiene. More than 50% of India's children are malnourished and 50% of Indian children ages 6-18 do not go to school.17 million children in India work as per official estimates . These children have a bleak future with no opportunity to learn and succeed in life as not many of them don’t have a place they can call home.

This project identifies children in need and provides them with their basic needs in order for them to succeed. They get a chance to attend a quality school that teaches ,prepares , and encourages them to realize their dreams and pursue promising careers. They also receive after -school tutoring if extra academic help is needed .In addition to an education ,children who are in most need may also receive assistance for food , shelter and basic supplies to ensure they are cared for.
