About the organization
Lotus Rescue came into operation and got officially registered on the 23rd of August, 2013. It is a non-profit organization that is operational mainly in West Bengal. It focuses on the holistic learning of children and the empowerment of women. It also works in various other spheres like the development and preservation of the environment, supporting the vulnerable members of the society, activities on waste management, making buildings for the development purpose, and implementing disaster management initiatives. We started with 15 children in 1 garage, but at 2023, we have 15 free community schools now that are educating around 1000 underprivileged children and providing mid-day meals to around 800 children. We give street children an all-round development and lay the foundation for a quality and bright school life. Some of our children are now going to mainstream schools like Collins Institute, Loreto School (Rainbow Section). Apart from this, we educate and support children with mental, learning and developmental disabilities through our Choti si Asha initiative dedicated exclusively to them.
We also engage ourselves in asset development programs and rural livelihood. We impart free education, yoga classes, psychological counseling, health check-ups and vocational training to around 500 women spread over our 13 centres in the rural parts of West Bengal. We help these women become self- sufficient and independent by selling the products that they make in Lotus Stores, various exhibitions, melas and haats; and giving them their income from the revenues that the sales help us earn. Our organization is purely based on the motto "Service above Self".
The management team of Lotus Rescue will implement all the projects. We have all the vital documentations that are necessary and required for receiving the CSR funds which will support these numerous children, women and the other members of the community.
