About the organization

MUKTI, a non-profit socio-economic organization, registered as a Trust on 9th March 2005, is working in the Delta region of Sundarbans (world UNESCO Heritage site) and more than 10 other districts of West Bengal since January 2003 creating impact for more than 10 lakh beneficiaries covering about 1.5 lakhs households including 30,000 SHG women and 3500 children.

MUKTI’s mission is to work as a HEALER- AID for our society in the area of Health, Education Agriculture, Livelihood, Environment, Recovery & Resilience, Awareness & Empowerment, Integrated Development, Disaster Relief & Response irrespective of caste, creed, age and gender. Mukti is working with almost 54 communities that are in catastrophes of climatic hazards resulting in penury, vulnerability, and violence. In the Livelihood category alone, Mukti assists over 30,000 rural needy women in earning a living by giving them interest free loans and imparting much needed skills development training like Soft toy making, Food processing, Sustainable items made up of jute, Incense stick making, Shola making, etc

The Organization has played a key role in establishing the mangrove belt of the region and actively working in plantation drives, strengthening of river embankments, and generating livelihood through micro nurseries. Till now we have planted more than 5 Mn trees including mangrove, Coconut and Fruit bearing trees.

In the field of Health, till now we have treated more than 2 lac patients in 950 medical camps. Provided oxygen support and medicine at free of cost in all over the West Bengal.

Under Agriculture initiative, till now more than 11,000 farmers has received training on organic farming, 170 farmers have received PGS certificate, 2000 farmers are successfully practicing kitchen gardening.

50 Mukti Support school is catering the educational need of the students from class 5th to class 10th. 31 Kishalaya Support school is providing employment opportunity to 31 women and also educating children from class 1 to class 4. Through Talented Student Sponsorship we are providing higher education sponsorship support to the needy students. Such has been its success over the past 18+ years, that now there are demands on Mukti to expand its existing coverage into several other regions in India. More than 950 volunteers of MUKTI are working in UNESCO, declared as a World Heritage site. Sundarbans region of India with a vision to empower and engage the largest number of volunteers to create a grassroots level socio-economic development organization that contributes to sustainable development of people in need.

 Legal Status

The organization is registered under Government of India Trust Act and has all the legal compliances including Form CSR -1, 12AA, 80G, TISS empanelment, DARPAN registration, Guide Star accreditation, FCRA etc. MUKTI is collaborating with more than 89+ renowned enterprises around the world.
