Project Description

“What is worse is TB is still considered to be a stigma, people are afraid of it. We just want to convey the message that the disease is curable, and if detected in time, can be cured easily.”

Project Area Covered - The project covers five blocks of Nanital District. i.e. Ramnagar, Dhari, Okhalkanda, Betalghat and Kotabagh.

India is the highest TB burden country with World Health Organization (WHO) statistics for 2011 giving an estimated incidence figure of 2.2 million cases of TB for India out of a global incidence of 8.7 million cases.

Since 2013, SUVIDHA committed to the cause of TB, initiated TB control programme in collaboration with International Union against TB and Lung Disease, Delhi.

Lack awareness and medicinal facilities has been a major challenge in the Himalayan regions of India. The factors like unavailability of road connectivity with villages in hills also attribute to the negligence on health issues.

Through ‘Project Axshya’, SUVIDHA has worked at the grassroots level among the villagers in Nainital District to raise awareness about Tuberculosis, its prevention and treatment. SUVIDHA also collected sputum and refers the TB patients for DOTS.

Till date SUVIDHA has expanded its campaign against TB to Thousands of Families in Nainital Districts and referred Hundreds of TB patients to cure.
