Project Description

The WWF-India survey team

 Under this programme, during 2012-13 the study was being undertaken in conservation sites at Mandla and Jung area in the west Kameng and Tawang districts of Western Arunachal Pradesh covering field survey of assessing presence of Red Panda in selected areas, analyzing data on GIS domain and developing distribution maps and supporting conservation and management of Red Panda population and its habitats.

WWF-India has conducted survey in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and found indirect evidences of red panda presence in some of the areasand direct/indirect evidences of other wildlife like barking deer, Asiatic black bear, musk deer, Himalayan serow, yellow throated martin and common leopard. The basic methodology followed involved field surveys in strategic locations, semi-formatted questionnaires and interviews with villagers.
