A survey showed that 80% of children living in institutions have a living relative. And this made the foundation realize that there are possibilities that they make every effort to reunite these children with their birth family, if possible. For abandoned children without family — their measurable, systematic method ensures that children are loved, educated, healthy and safe until they transition to a permanent family. This project is initiated to bring life-changing care to orphaned and vulnerable children living in childcare institutions (orphanages). They ensure that every child is given nutritious food, access to quality healthcare and education, is taught life skills, given the opportunity for higher education and vocational training and protected from abuse and neglect. At the same time, they explore every avenue to transition children into permanent families and identify alternate care options for those who cannot be sent back into a family. The program is metric-driven, measurable and corruption-free. The Thrive Scale Methodology has helped them in measuring the impact they are creating through the project. Thrive scale 1.0. is for measuring the growth of the children when they’re living in the Child Care Institution. Thrive Scale 2.0 measures the growth of the child when placed in a family. They work across 10 states and have supported more than 15000 children in rural and semi-urban areas of India since 2011.
Their approach is multi-faceted, collaborative and community-based. They actively collaborate with governments, other nonprofits and local family-strengthening organizations to transform systems and give children a voice.
