Project Description

The Online Capacity Building Programme launched by Delhi SCERT revolutionized the teacher training in the state of Delhi, providing access to continuous professional development opportunities for close to 1 Lakh teachers. The program is delivered through a mobile platform called ChalkLit which has allowed teachers to undergo official training at their convenient time and pace. The use of technology makes it easier for the SCERT department to administer and manage the training process at scale and nudge the trainee participants through automated notifications, texts and calls to complete their training on time. The user analytics data allows them to not only monitor the progress of the teachers but also allows the SCERT to plan each subsequent phase of training in a more informed manner.
The continuous feedback from teachers helps SCERT improve the intervention to ensure delivery of content to address diverse training needs of our teachers teaching in elementary, middle and secondary schools.  The mentor teachers have been further capacitated to create content during the process and they also now participate in the training process for answering subject matter related queries on the mobile platform and engage with the teachers in the state on the teacher community. The peer learning opportunities thus created have immense potential and teachers in the state are extremely enthusiastic to be able to voice their opinions and share best practices in a pan India community. We have trained and certified 55000+ teachers who in turn are impacting the life and learning outcomes of 25 lakh students of the state.
OCBP has positively impacted teacher education and teacher preparedness across the teachers of the state of Delhi. Teachers can not only get access to high-quality training on both scholastic and co-scholastic training at their convenience, but they also have continuous access to enhanced lesson plans and a social personalized microlearning network where they get capacitated continuously. Teachers in Delhi are contributing to the development of these training and are proactively requesting to be trained on various topics. The OCBP has reduced a lot of administrative work around course management. Taking Delhi’s lead several other states are starting to adopt OCBP.
