Project Description

The lack of clean, safe drinking water is one of the most acute problems in developing India. Many common diseases are caused by impurities in water. The groundwater in many villages in the Noida and Greater Noida area is high on contaminants and toxins and unsuitable for drinking.  Although residents have continue to bear the high costs of drinking water for many years, in the recent past there have been instances of a rise in the number of cancer cases in a few villages near the Chhapraula Industrial Area. Poor populations are unable to bear the financial burden of accessing clean drinking water.

To resolve this issue, Shodh is implementing a safe drinking water project in one of the affected villages in the Greater Noida region by setting up a community based RO drinking water plant. The ‘Swasthya Evam Swachh Pey Jal Pariyojna,’ being implemented with the support of BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd is targeted at providing easy access to safe drinking water for the community.
