Aricent Employability Program On Campus

Organization : iPRIMED Education Solutions Pvt Ltd

Location : Karnataka,Tamil Nadu

Project Description

Aricent and NASSCOM Foundation jointly conceptualized the idea of ‘Aricent Employability Program’ a unique CSR initiative to create greater employability opportunities for 1250 college students, by up-skilling engineering undergraduates across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

IPRIMED helped flesh out the program in detail and executed the same. Aricent and NASSCOM Foundation helped govern the program and provided regular monitoring, feedback and directions/suggestions to ensure that the program achieves its objectives and outcomes, whilst aligning with the CSR philosophy of Aricent.

This was an On-Campus program where students were trained in areas such as JAVA, Testing and Software Development, leveraging the under patent, iPRIMED methodology where learning happens in the context of business and where behavioral skills are woven into the technical and process sessions in a holistic manner. The curriculum was aligned to QP/0501 approved by NASSCOM SSC. All this with the intent of arming the students with sound employability skills in order to enhance their chances of getting placed in an IT- BPM company.

Keeping future scalability in mind, iPRIMED leveraged technology to ensure that they reached the remotest corners without compromising on quality. Delivery happened in a Hybrid model – blend of human via their facilitators and technology (via their platform and NPTEL).  This was a behavioral change for the student and college stakeholders and organization ensured that they gave it time! Delivery was spread out over 9 months to ensure that organization got enough time to drive in the change and complete the curriculum.

Organization had their share of challenges in terms of participation and engagement levels of students, lack of regular availability of time provided to us by the colleges, different levels of “prior learning” quotient of students, poor IT infrastructure in some colleges etc. Working with Aricent and NASSCOM Foundation organization was able to resolve some of the issues and learn what not to do for the next run!

In the end, iPRIMED achieved most of the planned outcomes:

  • Trained 1620 vs the plan for 1250
  • Diversity ratio – Actual ratio was way better at 43:57 (Male: Female) as compared to the required 60:40 (Male: Female)
  • Placements:445 candidates were placed as compared to 700 candidates to be placed. While we didn’t meet our targets, the numbers were considerably higher than what is achieved in similar programs. Also, the average salary for candidates was ~ 2.7 lakhs/annum which is quite high!
