Project Description

‘Eye Care’ is one of the flagship programmes of Cognizant Foundation in the healthcare sector, and over the years, we have made significant inroads into making quality eye health services accessible to the under-privileged. In 2017-18, we have partnered with Operation Eyesight India (OEI) to set up five new Vision Centers in the country through the support of three non-profit healthcare institutions. These Vision Centers offer consultation, diagnostics, spectacles at subsidized rates, and free cataract surgeries to the under-privileged. The ultimate aim of a Vision Center is to make the communities where they operate free of avoidable blindness.
Cognizant Foundation has identified OEI as its partner in this program as it is an international development organization that has developed an innovative community eye health programme to promote sustainable avoidable blindness free communities in India. OEI has so far established 105 Vision Centers in collaboration with its partner hospitals which are spread over 63 districts in 15 States, across India.
