This happens to be a very special year for Badminton as well as Pune. As stated earlier Badminton in its original form as “The Poona Game” was first played around 1870-1871 and hence this year happens to be the 150th birth year of the game of Badminton. Coincidentally PDMBA also celebrates its 75th Foundation Day this year. To mark this dual celebration PDMBA is applying to the Badminton Association of India (BAI) through Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) to allot the Senior Nationals 2021 to Pune.

The dates as per the BAI calendar released recently are January 31, 2022 to February 6, 2022. This is going to be a mega event with all the top national and international players of India participating in the same making it more special when the same is organized in the birthplace of the game! The level of competition is also expected to be very high and such an event also requires world class amenities.

In this respect we, as the office-bearers of PDMBA, wish to invite the corporates to become sponsors of this prestigious event. This all will largely aid us in organizing this event which attracts 500+ players, officials and coaches and also has great spectator interest in the Badminton loving population of Pune!!

• Badminton Senior Nationals are being hosted in Pune after 26 years; last ones had happened in 1997.
• All the top national / inter-national Badminton stars are expected to participate.
• The second most popular sport of the world will be seen at the tournament.
• The tournament will witness the best of the competition and the winners of the Thomas Cup and Commonwealth Games can be seen performing their best.
