Project Background:
A total 4,37,396 road accidents were recorded across India in 2019, resulting in the death of 1,54,732 people and injuries to another 4,39,262, according to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data. Approximately half of all deaths on the country's roads are among vulnerable road users - motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists. The primary reasons for this high rate of accidents are ignorance, negligence and lack of sense of responsibility on driver’s part for traffic rules while driving on roads and also that of pedestrians while walking or crossing of roads.
The project and its objectives:
Awareness needs to be created about the topic among citizens especially among children and youth as they are vulnerable and the future citizens of the country and among general population.

Highlights of the Project:
Educating and creating awareness among school students: and college Youth In this phase presentations and interactive discussions will be organised with school children regarding traffic rules, safety practices and causes of road accidents. With College students, along with presentations there will be a special session on First Responders training.
Students Involvement: After getting educated on road safety, students participated in various activities organized for them in school like extempore speech, poster making competition, etc. The objective of this activity would be to primarily encourage thinking among students about the topic and bring out their creativity to express themselves
Social Action: In phase the students along with employee volunteers and Traffic Police will initiate social action by creating awareness among public about road safety through organizing street plays and undertaking campaigns with Traffic Police.
Communication material: As a part of the project communication material will be developed for spreading information on road safety and traffic rules. The communication material would be in form of booklets, leaflets, wall paintings
The impact of the project:
In the year 2017-18 the outreach was 5800 which increased to 12091 in the year 2018-19 and ultimately increased to 13579 in the year 2019-20 taking the total outreach to 31740
