Project Description

Sri Chaitanya Seva Trust has started a Skill Development project in which they have targeted farmers, women and youth for implementation of project.

The Highlights of project implementation:

 

Farmers:

 

  • Regular workshops in liaison with Agriculture department
  • Train farmers in improved agriculture & scientific farming
  • Visit sensitive and suicide prone areas
  • Educate farmers in water harvesting/ conservation
  • Provide organic seeds to the farmers

 

Women:

 

  • Create SHGs and provide training - tailoring, cloth bag making, paper bags, diya making, nursery plantations, kitchen gardening and organic farming
  • Market linkage for their skills & products
  • Motivate and increase their ability to earn
  • Boost their self respect and confidence

 

Skilling Youth:

 

  • Advertisement/ Publicity: Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute conducts more than 400 camps annually in rural & tribal areas and through these camps awareness was created for caregiver course. Banner and pamphlets were distributed in the villages. Since the villagers have faith in our organization, due to our committed community work, also works as awareness volunteers.
  • Selection & Recruitment: Priority is given to the youth from Below-the-poverty-line (BPL) family from rural & tribal areas, Slum-dwellings, Hutments and Villages of Thane & Palghar districts. Students aged between 18-35 years, passed 8th standard and above, inclination to serve the elderly population, etc. were some of the parameters.
  • Training Materials: A blend of academic, soft-skills, self-defense & IT training required for a caregiver.
  • On-job training: Trust's existing hospital facility helped them to provide on-job training to the students
  • Accommodation & Hospitality for Students
  • Placement: Several Nursing Bureaus, Employment Agencies providing caregivers/ nurses were approached to place the students

 

Skilling Farmers

4500 Farmers trained on organic farming from all over Maharashtra

8 districts visited to give technical guidance to farmers and to learn New Innovative Techniques

71 Farmer's visited resource mapping survey completed of Parabhani, Nasik, Beed, Latur, Sangali, Satara and Dhule

Skilling Women

979 Women have been benefitted

45-50% increase in financial status observed

Rs. 74.36 lakhs - Total Income earned by all SHGs in 2016-17

Skilling Youth

200 Youth have been given Caregiver's Training

50-60% increase in financial status observed
