The Lotus Rescue Taranagar, Sundarban's Asset Development Project (Free Community School and Dispensary) is based on building a free community school on 1600 sq. ft. area of land in Taranagar, Gosaba (Sundarban) which aims to serve as both a school and a dispensary for 600 beneficiaries. Taranagar is a flood-prone area with no proper roads, houses, medical facilities or other basic amenities. The school building can also be used as a shelter during cyclones and other natural disasters. The school will provide free education and extra-curricular activities to the children over there from class LKG to class X along with free nutrition meals and health check-ups. 

Also, there will be a provision of a dispensary in the building itself where there will be proper and efficient medical facilities and equipment so that the residents of Taranagar can avail free medical treatments, medicines and other medical services.

The special features of this project are:

• It attempts to relieve the poverty-stricken residents of Taranagar, Sunderban by providing them with basic health facilities for free.
• it empowers the people through asset development and capacity building.
• It ensures that natural disasters like floods, cyclones, storms etc. do not disrupt the normal functioning of the residents.
• It alleviates illiteracy by providing free education, mid-day meals, and extra-curricular classes to the students up till Class X.
• It aims to provide vocational training and literacy to the women so that they can earn their living and take well-equipped decisions regarding their children and families.
• It focuses on the holistic growth of the children and their families.
