Background:
Plastics are very durable, so they accumulate in nature, damaging ecosystems on which we rely. Employee volunteers can be part of the solution to save the environment by conducting a virtual interactive hands-on workshop on the 4R’s (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) of solid waste management to beat plastic pollution.
Where:
Using digital platforms such as Zoom, employee volunteers can conduct a 90-minute hands-on workshop for children from low income communities.
Role:
During the workshop, volunteers need to help children understand the dangers of plastic pollution and how children can reduce and reuse the amount of plastic they use in their daily lives. They may also conduct a practical demonstration on repurposing plastic waste found at home. For example, they use PET bottles to make utility items such as planters, bird feeders, etc.
