Established in 1968, Tata Consultancy Services a member of the Tata Group has grown to its current position as the largest IT services firm in Asia based on its record of outstanding service, collaborative partnerships, innovation, and corporate responsibility.

TCS has set up the TCS Foundation, as CSR project implmentation arm in 2015. Directors of Tcs Foundation are Chandrasekaran Natarajan, Mukund Govind Rajan, Barindra Sanyal, Roopa Purushothaman and Ajoyendra Mukherjee. It is classified as Non-govt company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Mumbai.TCS’ CSR commitment stems from the 151-year-old legacy of the Tata Group and its founder’s vision that the community is not just another stakeholder in the business, but in fact the very existence of it. The primary focus is on areas that utilize TCS’ core expertise and large employee base to create sustainable interventions. 

The Tata Group has pioneered several labor welfare benefits. These include a standard working day, free medical aid, establishment of a welfare department, leave with pay, workers' provident fund scheme, workmen's accident compensation scheme, maternity benefits, profit sharing bonus and retiring gratuity, all of which became laws of the land subsequently.

TCS recognises that while governments have a duty to protect human rights, companies have a responsibility to respect human rights. Their approach starts from respecting and protecting human rights in every aspect of the business and supply chain, and remediate any adverse human rights impacts that may be resulting from or caused by their operations. They are aligned with international laws, principles, and norms, including those contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at work, United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and are a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) since 2006.

Covid-19 Relief Activities (2020-21)
The company contributed to CSR towards following projects - Helped in the fight against covid 19 by providing Quarantine centre, supply of disinfectant and food packets distribution for frontline healthcare workers.
