India Water & Rivers Forum
Water rarely follows the boundaries we draw around cities, organisations or businesses. A river doesn’t stop at a state line. And the water decisions made by one organisation can affect farmers, communities and ecosystems far beyond its own operations.
The India Water & Rivers Forum (IWRF) brings these interconnected realities into the same room.
IWRF is a national leadership platform focused on advancing water security and river resilience in India. It brings together business leaders, policymakers, practitioners, funders and civil-society institutions to look at water not as an isolated environmental concern, but as something closely tied to economic growth, business continuity, communities and the health of our river basins.
The forum creates space for a more useful conversation: What can be done? Where does it need to happen? Who needs to be involved? And how do we move from individual efforts to coordinated action at the basin level?
Because no organisation secures a shared water source alone.
IWRF is convened under the aegis of the One Purpose India Forum.
Water decisions are becoming business decisions.
A harvest reaches the market. A hospital opens. A factory runs. A supplier delivers. A digital service stays online. But water is quietly embedded in all of them.
Climate change, urbanisation, changing water demand and increasing pressure on shared water resources are reshaping how India plans for growth.
Water now sits across business continuity, supply chains, agriculture, infrastructure, investment and public systems.
India already has the knowledge, technology, capital and partnerships needed to build water security. The bigger opportunity is connecting them across geographies, sectors and institutions.

The first India Water & Rivers Forum brought policymakers, business leaders, water experts and practitioners together around asking a simple but important question:
How do we move from individual water interventions to action that works at the scale of a river basin?
The conversation brought together perspectives from government, business, civil society and the wider water ecosystem, creating a shared space to connect India’s water priorities with practical action.
The first edition showed that there is no shortage of people working on India’s water challenges.
The opportunity is to connect them better. To bring business decisions closer to basin realities. To connect policy with implementation. To bring capital, technology and local knowledge into the same conversation.
IWRF continues the same work in 2026.

The Forum looks beyond individual projects and isolated interventions towards the larger systems that connect them: river basins, communities, businesses, ecosystems and public institutions.
