PURE
Education is believed to be an important tool for community development because it helps to create a sense of shared responsibility of an individual. Research and experiences demonstrate that a systemic change that improves the national educational system's state can only occur when the learning environment is instilled within the classroom. With the aim to facilitate Sustainable Empowerment through Quality Education with Complete Transparency and Accountability to the Sponsors, PURE (People for Urban and Rural Education) strives to Connect Individuals, Groups, and Organizations to the urgent needs of the world’s Children.
PURE recognized the educational disparities between urban and rural areas and made it their mission to bridge this divide. They established schools and learning centres in underserved urban neighbourhoods and remote rural areas, ensuring that every child has access to quality education, regardless of their geographic location. By bringing education to these communities, PURE has helped narrow the gap between urban and rural students, providing equal opportunities for academic success.
The establishment of PURE is a story of a Teacher who couldn’t bear to see her students walk miles to get to school. Not only one student but many tribal kids in a remote forest area hesitated to attend school mainly due to neglected schools with roofs leaking, and a lack of access to drinking water, toilets, benches, school supplies and other amenities. Shyla Talluri, the founder, introduced PURE in 2016 with a few like-minded and passionate friends. PURE’s objective is to create conducive classroom environments that are crucial to encouraging a positive atmosphere in a classroom to ensure effective teaching and progression in learning. PURE also believes in a learning environment that is supportive of every student and where a child feels empowered by being included, respected and cherished.

Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the future of students, called Gurus at PURE. Gurus, the teachers, are a pillar of strength PURE highly relies on. They are partners in shaping the future of the next generation of leaders and responsible citizens. Understanding the importance of this and enhancing the quality of education, PURE has implemented teacher training programs and workshops. These initiatives focus on equipping educators with the necessary skills, knowledge, and teaching methodologies to deliver effective instruction. By empowering teachers, PURE has positively impacted the classroom experience, leading to improved student engagement, higher academic performance, and increased confidence among both urban and rural educators.
Many students from urban and rural backgrounds face financial barriers that prevent them from pursuing higher education. PURE has addressed this challenge by offering scholarships and financial aid programs to deserving students. By reducing the financial burden, PURE has empowered students to pursue their academic dreams, regardless of their socioeconomic background. These scholarships have opened doors for countless individuals, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and contribute to the development of their communities.
PURE actively engages with local communities to create awareness about the importance of education and involve them in the educational process. We collaborate with parents, community leaders, and local organizations to build a collective effort towards sustainable education.
The other initiatives include; PURE Sponsorships - Sponsoring a child’s educational/living expenses to help ease the burden of poverty, PURE Smiles/Scholarships - Addressing the day-to-day needs (uniforms, groceries, bicycles, wheelchairs, crutches, etc) of the children that cause a hindrance to their education, PURE Green - Plantations and kitchen gardens at schools to spread the green initiative and create a sustainable environment for children and PURE Abhyasa - A school for the street children, the panhandlers and rag pickers.
