As a part of their most recent CSR activity, Cleartrip partnered with the Magician Foundation India, a non-profit organization that works with kids and youngsters utilizing rugby to empower kids from disadvantaged homes (especially from the slums of Mumbai) as well as promote rugby as a sport in India.

The effort, which started with the simple idea of introducing rugby as a form of empowerment, skill-building, and community cohesiveness, was born out of a desire to better the community. In order to develop a new generation of rugby players, Cleartrip collaborated with local coaches and sports fans, utilizing their knowledge and skills. With children and young adults from Dharavi embracing the sport with unabashed excitement, what began as cautious steps on the field quickly developed into a vibrant program.

The charity works to safeguard kids from developing antisocial tendencies by teaching them life skills and raising them to be valuable members of society.  After five years of work, these gifted slum dwellers have developed to the point where they can contribute to the development of our country and have qualified for a national rugby competition.

The thriving community of Dharavi, which is frequently referred to as Asia's largest slum, has aspirations as big as the city that shelters it. But these aspirations have long been thwarted by structural issues. Here is where Cleartrip's rugby revolution comes into play, demonstrating their conviction that sport has the ability to spur change even in the most unexpected of settings.

The team that has been selected for the All India and South Asia Rugby - National Division 1 Tournament 2017, which continued from October 7 to October 14, is supported by Cleartrip under the association. Many poor children now have access to school, hope, and opportunities because of Magician Foundation India. 

When a group of enthusiastic teenage volunteers began instructing other local kids in rugby in 2004, the concept for Magician Foundation India first emerged. Today, they have a special rugby program where they instruct young boys and girls living in slums in different Mumbai neighborhoods in rugby. The boys' and girls' teams have taken part in numerous national rugby competitions, and some of the more seasoned players have gone on to compete in international competitions as well. 

Being selected for the national competition is a proud milestone for the Foundation and allows the team the chance to compete against teams like the CRPF, Bombay Gymkhana, and Maharashtra State Police. The Foundation is pleased to work in partnership with Cleartrip on this project and will keep working toward its objective of transforming the Mumbai slums into a place of opportunity and social transformation for different demographics.
