National Legal Services Authority, Delhi Legal Services Authority and Bachpan Bachao Andolan have joined hands to realize the cherished Constitutional ideal of equality and justice to child sine qua non of creation of a Child Friendly Society where every child has access to physical, social, psychological, moral & spiritual development.
The All India Legal Aid Cell on Child Rights is a new dawn in the history of legal aid in India. In view of urgent need for initiating legal action with regard to prosecution and punishment of the violators of the children related law and to uphold all child rights including access to rehabilitation and other social integration schemes for the children, this legal aid cell is envisaged as a one-point stop.
A bilateral collaboration between the National Legal Authority Services of India and the Bachpan Bachao Andolan has extended support by providing free legal aid/ advice and also making recommendations to the victims and other appropriate authorities to ensure effective and proper implementation of the laws.
Further, the legal aid cell has also collaborated with the various govt. departments especially Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Human Resource Development amongst others as well as various Committees and Commissions formulated under various provisions in seeking information about various govt. schemes and orders to ensure access to information and justice to all during the course of its functioning.
The legal aid cell has also endeavoured to assist the various authorities in providing technical assistance in providing training on child rights laws. They would attend to cases of legal aid for rescued children from labour/ trafficking and other abuses and whenever required they would also initiate legal proceedings or provide assistance thereof in various courts across the country.
