Project Description

In the last 2 years, Mahavir International has embarked on a significant project of sanitation to prevent infectious baby and female diseases through the distribution of Baby Kits and Sanitary Pads to needy strata of the society.

 

1.Vatsalya (Baby) Kits Distribution
This is a Post birth baby kits distribution especially in rural and backward areas for just born kids/infants
As per a research conducted, 75% of baby deaths can be prevented out of 2.6 million babies that die every year in India mainly because of

This is a Post birth baby kits distribution especially in rural and backward areas for just born kids/infantsAs per a research conducted, 75% of baby deaths can be prevented out of 2.6 million babies that die every year in India mainly because of:

Maturity/preterm- (35%)                     Neonatal 

Infections-       (33%)

Birth asphyxia-   (20%)                     Congenital 

Malformation-     (9%)

This happens due deliveries are commonly done at home and there are no antenatal/ pre-delivery checkups of pregnant women compounded by no knowledge and awareness about mother and childcare and hygiene.
The cost of 1 baby kit consisting of 7 items namely a cap, two tops, two nappies, one sheet, and one blanket- all sanitized and hygienically packed is  Rs 70/- including distribution cost one kid requires at least 3 such kits along with sanitary pads to delivering mother.

2. Sanitary pad distribution
The Mahavir International will be able to get 6 single-use, hygienic, environment-friendly and degradable pads to 2 lakh women. This will cost Rs. 20/- for each pack of 6 pads including distribution cost from the same source which is supplying pads for female inmates of Central Tihar Jail in Delhi.
