Project Description

Our school gives special education to Mentally Challenged Children, Cerebral Palsy children, Autism, and other disabilities students. The school gives Special Education, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Vocational Training, Yoga, and Games. The Children attending the school are mostly from economically backward families.

Initially, we face a lot of struggles to start a special school. At first, nobody gave a rented building to run a special school. The second one the parents were not willing to send their kids to the special school. The third one was no teachers interested to join as an employee in our school.

These three factors affect our initial stages.  We took the issues one by one identified a building near to bus stand for rent and convinced the owner about the uses of running the special school. Later, we recruited teachers with the help of them and social workers. We went door to door in and around the Rajapalayam and identified the number of special kids. We give awareness about special education, special schools, and the abilities of special children to their parents. After surveys and awareness, many students joined our school. At first, we requested educated parents of students to work as teachers in our school. Later they found a few good teachers for our school. Now our school has a renowned name in this region and we get regular inquiries for admission and teachers’ willingness to join our school in case of vacant arises.

Our school is located in Rajapalayam which is a semi-urban area. But most of the students coming from rural areas like Dhalavaipuram, Muhavur, Seithur, M.P.K.Pudhupatti, Ideyankulum, Mamsapuram, Chattrapattai, Samsigapuram, Thiruvankadapuram, Chokkanathanputhur, Devathanam, Pillaiyarkulam, A.Ramalingapuram, and Innamkarisalkulam.

Special Features of Project

Many were not getting adequate attention to their problems from their family because of the ignorance of their parents. They are usually mild to severely affected children. We see the kids as people with rights, who must be extended the facilities available to other kids. Whatever talent they have must be given a chance to blossom. The children show remarkable improvement in all aspects after started attending school.

We closely work with the community and educate their parents about the child rights issue, and government schemes for special children. We concentrate on the gender issue and educate the female children and their parents about maturity and menstrual hygiene and how to safeguard them from sexual abuse.

Our goal is to prevent children from being a burden to their families and educate them to be able to support themselves. We build confidence and give them some recognition the society. To make them aware of their inherent abilities, skills, and talents so they realize the importance of supporting themselves. To train them in various skills thereby aid them in being self-reliable and supporting themselves. Planning to improve our vocational training thus by giving employment opportunity for the students. This will give them adequate money and enormous confidence to live independently.

Through this program we give Special Education, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Vocational Training, Yoga, and Games for below 21 years of age Mentally challenged children.
