10 Green CSR projects by Indian companies
1. Cummins India Ltd.
Project Title: Creating Oxygen Hubs
Due to rapid urbanization, Pune is among one of the polluted city in India. As per 2013-14 reports City of pune emits 46 lakh tonnes of carbon in one year. This directly affects level of oxygen in environment. Cummins decided to fight against this pollution and started spend CSR funds for “Creating Oxygen Hubs” i.e. (Converted Non Forest land to Forest).
Cummins partnered with various NGOs, communities, civic authorities, elected members and the defence department in the city to create oxygen hubs by creating forest.

Amount spent: INR 1.112 Cr
Location: Pune, Maharashtra
Estimated Impact:
Under this activity Cummins planted more than 35000 trees and also looked after their sustainability.
2. DB Corp Ltd.
Project Title: Save Bird Campaign
Under the theme of “Animal welfare” DB Corp Ltd launched Save Bird campaign because thousand of bird species have gone extinct in last few decades. The aim of Save Birds initiative was conservation of birds. Citizens were encouraged to keep Bird Baths (Sakoras) or vessel at their homes and workplaces, filled with food grains and water.
Company has also partnered with WWF India and Nature Forever Society for this campaign to improve sustainability of Save Bird Campaign.

Amount spent: INR 0.8 Cr
Location: Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Delhi NCR
Estimated Impact:
The initiative has received tremendous response in 34 cities. Sensitization workshops were conducted in 886 colonies, 203 parks and 446 schools i. Also, 1 million earthen vessels (Sakoras) were distributed.
3. Karnataka Bank Ltd.
Project Title: Green Initiatives
For environmental sustainability, Karnataka bank Spent 0.54 Cr on green initiative and animal welfare. The key purpose of Green initiative to maintain ecological balance in Karnataka and Delhi respectively.

Karnataka bank tried to achieve environmental sustainability and ecological balance with help of Afforestation.
4. Century Plyboards India Ltd.
Project Title: Animal welfare
Under the in animal welfare section, Century plyboards tried to serve helpless, shelter less, ill as well as handicapped cow in nearby areas. Company also wanted to bring awareness on cow based agriculture, health and environment. Company established cow hostel in Kolkata and nearby area.

5. Tata Sponge Iron
Project Title: Plantation and Afforestation
Due to deforestation, the issue of ecological imbalance is becoming a cause for concern. However, Tata Sponge’s mass Afforestation programme has by far outweighed the reduction of forest cover in the area owned by it. Initially company planted species like acacia, bakain, chakindi, etc. Later the plantation work was changed to fruit bearing plants and hard wood trees like sandalwood, rosewood, mahogany, teak & bamboo
When Tata sponge started this activity most of land was barren. Company began planting trees with help of different Volunteers like Company employees, their family members and local community.

Amount spent: INR 0.23 Cr
Location: Anseikala, Birikala, Chamakpur, Kandara, Deojhar GP in Joda Block of Keonjhar District and Chendipada of Angul district of Odisha
Estimated Impact:
Tata Sponge planted more than 1100 trees, in the nearby village. The plantation is expected to bring much required economic benefit to the local community in the region.
6. Power Finance Corp Ltd.
Project Title: Afforestation
According to the Delhi government’s Environment and Forest Department, a total of 13,18,119 trees were supposed to be planted in year 2015-16 .To support this activity Power Finance Corp Ltd. Planted trees in Delhi.
The aim of this tree plantation campaign is to increase the green cover in Delhi.

Amount spent: INR 0.183 Cr
Location: Buddha Jayanti Park, Delhi
Estimated Impact:
Company has been planted 3400 trees under the CSR initiative to support green cover campaign.
7. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd
Project Title: Forest Based Sustainable Livelihood Projects
With respect to concern of biodiversity, BHEL has been carried out Afforestation activities such as mass tree plantation and development of green belts. Cumulatively, it has resulted in development of million Square meter of green coverage and plantation of millions trees till date.
Company also supported another CSR Initiative i.e. Manufactured biodegradable leaf cups & plates at Sundergarh District, Odisha. The aim of this project is protect environment sustainability.

Estimated Impact:
Plantation of thousands of saplings of trees and shrubs was carried out across BHEL's establishments.
8. Amrutanjan healthcare
Project Title: Welfare of Animals
All animals deserve respect and protection. To protect animals, Amrutanjan Spent part of CSR funds for welfare of animals. Welfare activities for animal include sterilization, vaccination, animal healthcare and other activities.

Estimated Impact:
This welfare activity of animals helped thousands of animals in Chennai and nearby areas.
9. Rallis India Ltd.
Project Title: Greening Project – Afforestation
As a part of its commitment towards climate change initiatives, company planted thousands of trees at seven different locations across Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The main objective of company to spend CSR funds in this project to create green cover area by plantation.
Project Implementation by: Direct, A K Rural Development Trust (except Anegaon)
Amount spent: INR 0.0981 Cr
Location: Mumbai (Anegaon), Lote (Songaon) and Akola (Shivar, Bhabhulgaon, Patsul, Shevni) in Maharashtra. Tree plantation at Dahej (Gujarat).
Estimated Impact:
Company Planted 5,000 new trees and maintained 14,000 trees planted earlier in deforested land.
10. Atul Ltd.
Project Title: Afforestation
Atul Ltd established of a forest in an area where there was no previous tree cover. The aim of this project was to convert a non-forest land into a forest. And by planting trees and creating forests, many of the commercial needs of human beings are fulfilled.

Estimated Impact:
Afforestation activity by Atul Ltd helped to stop over-exploitation of nature in local area and convert non forest area into a forest.
