14 women achievers and 3 women SHG felicitated on International Women\\\'s Day
Tata Steel BSL has celebrated the International Women’s Day by felicitating women achievers from local villages around its plant located at Narendrapur in Dhenkanal district.
Ms Madhusmita Bishi, Assistant Collector, Angul, had joined the function as the chief guest. Among those present on the occasion were Dr Payal Dash, Dr Suranjana Hazarika, doctors from Department of Public Health, Government of Odisha, Bhubaneswar and Ms Itishree Kanungo, State Coordinator for Climate Parliament.
Members of the Gruhalaxmi Cooperative, one of the biggest cooperatives formed by the representatives of around 150 SHGs supported by Tata Steel BSL, had participated in the programme. 14 women entrepreneurs from villages of Banharpal block of Angul district, Odapada, Hindol blocks of Dhenkanal district were felicitated for breaking the stereotype by foraying into such enterprises as mushroom cultivation, mask making, managing grocery shops, garment shop, poultry, incense stick making, vegetable vending, tailoring, etc.
Besides 2 Self Help Groups ( SHG) groups Maa Tarini of Nuahahata Panchyat and Shakti Maa Anapurna of Kusupanga panchayat who are making Phenyl and Maa Banadurga SHG of Nuagaon panchayat involved in fish farming were also felicitated for their entrepreneurial ventures.
Women officers from the company Ms Maitreyee Deb, from environment department, Ms Renuka Singh, and Ms Sagarika Satpathy, from CSR department coordinated the programme. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, to avoid large gatherings, CSR team of the company is observing this entire week as Women’s Week and will organise a series of functions around the nearby villages.
Similarly women employees of the company were also felicitated potted plants as gifts and greeting cards with messages of their colleagues and superiors to mark the occasion.
